What Motivated The NYC Attack?

What Motivated The NYC Attack

Sayfullo Saipov took a Home Depot rental truck and used it as a tool of destruction to murder eight people. Isis was influential in motivating Saipov to plan this killing spree. Americans don’t take time to understand what influences this type of behavior. Here at Gospel of God Ministries we want to show what motivates people like Saipov and then respond from the Holy Bible.

Here are two verses from the Qu’ran:

Surah 9:29-30, “Surah 9:29-30 (29)Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture – [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled. (30) The Jews say, “Ezra is the son of Allah “; and the Christians say, “The Messiah is the son of Allah .” That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?”

Literal interpretation of these two verses make it easy for us to see why some like Saipov would murder. Isis is being accused by other Muslims that they are perverting the ancient text. The Muslim community needs to address this issue with an untied voice of disgust. How else can this text be interpreted?  Unfortunately, I don’t see the outrage. How is a Christian to address this issue?

Here are two unequivocal facts from the Bible.

  1. Worshiping Idols always lead to spiritual and physical destruction.

Giving allegiance to something that is undeserving is an idol. Only the one true God deserves our undivided allegiance of true worship. In short, idols bring destruction. Psalms 96:5 states, “for all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens.”  Saipov will never please his god. Why? The perpetual cycle of works will never end. False gods demand works but the one true God appeased true justice by sacrificing His life.

2.Turning to Jesus breaks the bondage of worshiping idols.

1 Peter 3:18 states, “Christ came once for all the righteous for the unrighteous to bring us to God.”  Rejoice! Here is the emancipation from sin.

Saipov’s idol has caused him to work and hate the targets of the Qu’ranic text. Literal interpretation is given to the above texts because it cannot be interpreted any other way with several unavoidable contradictions.

I speak of what I know! Salvation is in Jesus not in futility of man’s works. Saipov and the rest of the Muslim community need a Savior. His name is Jesus.
