Donald Trump and Maxine Waters are Acting Like Jesus

  Audio of the article here:

Jesus Christ has not called any of us to be comfortable. Being complacent, silently passive, and unwilling to stand on the truth when the world needs it is like adding insult to injure. In this article, we are going to see the example Jesus set for us, what we can learn from people on opposite ends of the political scale, and encouragement from the early church.

  1. I love you. If you are comfortable as a Christian, you could be part of the problem. So, examine yourself.

The time for us to push ourselves past our comfort zone is now. Take some time to examine your motives behind what you are doing. Do you like being comfortable and when you read the hard sayings of Jesus? Do you try to reason them away? I want to lovingly challenge you just a bit in this article. Listen to the words of Jesus:

Matthew 8:20 “And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

Is Jesus calling us all to be vagabonds roaming from town to town? No. He is calling us to a much more personal and deeper principal. He is saying, “Are you willing to give up everything to follow me?” Not just giving up possessions, but the most prized gift anyone can have—apart from salvation: your life.

I really don’t want to be doom and gloom here, so please don’t hear that. I want you to gaze upon true life. Follow the example of the Savior. To the wind with all these trinkets that mean nothing to eternity.

Revival and awakening are not going to come with you loving your neighbor by being friendly—although that is vitally important. The change will come when you fast and pray, crying out for God to move in your life, and me crying out for God to move in mine. In return, we will be His agents of change in His world. If revival comes, it will be through the work of God the Holy Spirit, through His ambassadors of change.

  1. Donald Trump and Maxine Waters—in one way—are acting like Jesus. I just opened a can of worms.

What makes these two completely opposite political leaders so attractively dangerous? In one way, they are acting like Jesus. Before you misinterpret what I am saying let me explain. I do not think neither Donald Trump nor Maxine Waters have a saving relationship with Jesus—the fruit of their life does not prove such. I also don’t think they are great examples to follow, so how are they acting like Jesus?

None of us have to guess where they stand on anything. They state exactly where they stand. This is how they act like Jesus. You never have to wonder where Jesus stands on an issue. All you have to do is read His word.

We need to listen well but we have to share what we believe, and the time is now.

If you don’t believe me, just listen/read for yourself what Trump and Maxine believe. Then we will read Jesus’ words:

Maxine Waters says, and I quote from this YouTube video, “You see them at a gas station or a restaurant, you push back on them and tell them they are not welcome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJCDe7vdFfw

Donald Trump From his rally on Jan 6th states and I quote, “It is all a setup.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OXFmnTtO6s

Now let’s read one of Jesus’ more radical statements. Yes, more radical than the first scripture I used in the article.

Matthew 10:34: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.”

Now we must keep the text within context to be good students of scripture. In the Matthew passage, Jesus is teaching his apostles the truth that will cost them their lives. He is preparing them in eight ways. First, when you are on mission, don’t worry about money. You will have what you need. Second, people who don’t receive you means you move on. Third, you are going out like sheep among wolves. You will be helpless in the world’s eyes. Fourth, the rulers of the land are going to hear you speak. Fifth, your family is going to turn on you, which is hard. Sixth, when deathly persecution comes, it’s ok to flee. Seventh, they hated Jesus, so they will hate you. Don’t fear people who can only kill the tent of your soul. Lastly, He did not come to bring peace in an earthly sense, but a sword. He has drawn a line in the sand. Which side are you going to stand on?

Don’t be squishy on what you believe. Stand up, Christian. The world needs you to now more than ever.

Stop being so silent. Quit being so passive, and lovingly tell everyone what you believe. If they disagree with you, it’s ok. Eventually, it may cost more than disagreement; however, what if God uses your boldness to save them?

The world is hopeless right now. They are longing for something to cling to, and they are clinging to the wrong things. Stimulus checks, political figures, and an assortment of other idols.  They need us to point to the anchor of their souls: Jesus. If they take our job, home, pension, cars, food, and yes even our life, He is worthy of it all.

I am not doom and gloom. We are not there yet, and it could be your bold prayer and witness that could spark a revival that can change the course of our nation. Wow!

  1. A word of warning as I look around and make some observations.

If they suppress the speech of one who has the highest position in the land:—Donald Trump—why do you think they will not suppress your speech?

Most of the political landscape reminds me of a five-year-old school yard bull yelling, “na nannie boo boo, stick your head in doo doo.” This culture, eventually imploding, could be what it takes to lead to revival. The old saying is “the darkest hour is always before the dawn.” Maybe we are coming out of the outer edges of the darkness, or just going in. I really don’t know.

However, it is concerning to see them shut Trump’s social media platforms down and email ability. All they need is enough board members at these big tech companies to shut you down. When it comes to news dissemination, the social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter (bigtech) have more power than our government. And big news outlets like CNN and Fox News do the same.

I just want to give three points of warning as I look around. I am not God, neither do I know how far down the path of destruction we have gone as a nation, nor do I know if we have passed the point of no return. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

First, Hypocrisy and double talk are contagious. Don’t catch the disease.

People saying one thing and then doing the opposite, on a constant basis, is not something to be admired. Dr. Fauci says, “Everyone needs to wear a mask.” Then he is seen at a baseball game not wearing a mask. The list can go on, but you get the picture.

How about double talk? How many times did we hear, “These people are protesting peacefully.” While cities and businesses are burning to the ground. However, when a group of people break into the capitol—and I am not saying it was right—everyone there that day (over 250,000) was a group of radical, out of control mobs out to destroy democracy. This is a double-edged sword and it cuts both ways.

Stating that people are protesting peacefully while the city is being destroyed is wrong. Just like saying everyone at the Jan 6th rally in Washington is an out of control mob wanting to destroy our government. Read this AP piece. I also do want to see those to justice who broken into the Capitol building. I wonder if those who destroyed private businesses the past year all over America will be brought to justice? Just a question, maybe someone could clue me in.

What is the common denominator in all these cases? Peoples underlining assumptions are being pulled out of their closet and are being put on display for the whole world to see.  It’s as pretty as the wart on the witch’s face in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.

Remember presuppositions are people’s underlying assumptions. That is the bedrock for how they view life. The further people get from God’s objective truth, the wackier this circus called Capitol Hill will become. Their underlying assumptions are showing like lipstick on the collar of a man caught in Adultery. It is plain as day. The people leading our country have unchained themselves from God’s objective standard.

When people can look at one group and say “what they did was wrong” (The Capitol break in) but can look at another group doing the same thing in a different place and time (those breaking windows and burning private businesses down all over our country) and say, “we can’t look at what they are doing but must ask why they are doing it,” shows the emperor has on no clothes. Objective truth has been given up to the loudest mob type voice. Mobs don’t make good arbiters of morality. This is God’s position.

Finally, I want to ask?

Are you ready if they come to shut you up for what you believe? Are you ready to rejoice for being worthy to suffer?

Acts 5:41-42: “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah. “

What if it takes suffering for revival to break out. Are you willing to lose it all so thousands can gain it all— Jesus? I don’t want to say too much about the above text. Read it again. Worthy to suffer. What? When is the last time you heard that preached in your local church? I want this text to hit you full force. Let it throttle you to the ground and pound you into ashes, Christian, like it is doing to me. Read it one more time.

Cultural Christianity will not be able to take the pressure. The fault lines are starting to show in evangelicalism with CRT, the Woke Church Movement, and LGBTQ agenda.  What if it takes tension in our current church culture in America to make the true church ask what hills are we willing to die on? Cultural Christianity’s capitulation, because of the pressure of money, church growth, and doctrinal ambiguity is going to kill it. Good riddance.

I love you when I tell you this. If you are comfortable, you could be part of the problem. Please examine yourself. Take some time to look at Maxine Water and Trump and to see their only likeness is seen in the personality of Jesus. You never have to wonder what they believe. Also, be warned that mobs give out horrible advice. I would suggest don’t take it; however, standing for the one who stood against the mob by dying for it; He should be the one you should follow.

Until next month, go out and proclaim the Gospel to see a life transformed.
